PHOR is a not profit incorporated organisation. It aims to address the health issues of refugees. It has a number of programs including nutrition and physical activities holiday school programs for children

The Social Studio is a safe place of belonging that strives to create awareness and change public perceptions for people who have experienced being a refugee.

We operate as a non-profit Incorporated Association, which is managed by a Board of Management elected by the membership. Our Board is composed of design and business professionals, media and communications experts, community development workers and community leaders from refugee communities in Melbourne.

All income generated through the Studio is invested in creating social benefits for our students, staff and their communities. We measure this through education outcomes, employment outcomes, environmental benefits and social inclusion.

We believe there is a growing entrepreneurial spirit in community development. Along with participating in forums workshops and events that support the social enterprise sector, we have been mentoring other creative enterprises including The Social Outfit (Sydney), Twich Women’s Sewing Cooperative (Dandenong), No Sweat Fashions (Canberra) and The Global Studio (La Trobe Valley), among others.

HR4A is a charitable law firm that provides some of the most senior, dedicated and passionate legal minds in Australia, free of charge, to people being held in indefinite and long-term detention. HR4A seeks liberty for all, regardless of race, colour, religion or economic background. Most human rights organisations focus on those asylum seekers on Manus or Nauru. There are few, if any (apart from HR4A), which dedicate resources for onshore detainees.

We are driven by empathy. Operating pro-bono, many of our activities rely completely on volunteer support as well as donations from individuals and organisations who share the same passion for freedom.

HR4A takes on the “too hard” or “impossible” cases, which have often exhausted traditional legal approaches. HR4A actively looks for aspects of cases that have not been pursued fully or can be challenged in an alternative fashion.

We challenge the current narrative around people seeking asylum through the success of our cases, submissions to human rights organisations and media engagement. We push the system to ensure the basic human rights of people in detention are recognized and respected.

We believe that the current system of immigration detention needs to be brought to the attention of the Australian public along with the UN and other international human rights bodies, through public discourse and media focus. To advance our cause, we are training the next generation of human rights lawyers through our internship program.

1 in 6 Australian adults haven’t had enough to eat in the last year and, even more shockingly, 1.2 million children have gone hungry. The face of hunger is diverse - those affected are men and women, children and the elderly. They are single and in families, students, employed, unemployed and retired. At particular risk are people with disabilities, refugees and those of Aboriginal and Islander descent.

Foodbank Australia works with 2,950 frontline charities and 2,890 schools to bring food and groceries to Australians who are struggling. Foodbank currently feeds over 1 million people every month.

We work with the entire food and grocery industry to source key staple items so that Foodbank warehouses will always have them in stock. That way, we’ll be able to provide nutritious and convenient food such as cereal, tinned vegetables and milk for as long as people need it. We also support emergency services, providing essential supplies to people during natural disasters such as bushfires, floods and cyclones.

Through food rescue operations, Foodbank helps tackle Australia’s $36 billion food waste problem by reducing CO2 emissions arising from landfill.

Despite Foodbank’s scale, hunger is on the rise and charities report that they don’t have enough food and groceries to assist those in need. With your help, we strive to do more for everyday Australians who need a hand.

KindNecessities is a charity working to better the lives of women and girls locally and across the globe. Delta Therapy Dogs is a heartwarming program that brings the joys of animal companionship to those who need it most.

Delta’s amazing and devoted volunteer Therapy Dog Teams brighten the lives of an estimated 20,000 Australians in hospitals and care facilities every week.

Established in 1986, The Parramatta College Inc is a Registered Training Organisation and an adult education provider. We offers a wide range of short courses and accredited training in Business services, Information technology, Training and Assessment, Retail services, Customer Contact, and Pet Grooming and Styling. The College can also deliver customised training programs to best meet the local community needs. We specialise in assisting disadvantaged learners reengage in their community.

Caritas Australia works hand in hand with the most marginalised and remote communities in Australia and overseas, to confront the challenges of poverty. Through locally-led programs, we work with all people, with shared hope and compassion, towards a world where all can thrive and reach their full potential. Through partnerships with local organisations and Church networks, and as a member of Caritas Internationalis, one of the largest humanitarian networks in the world, we are able to reach where the need is greatest and work together for a just future.

When a crisis hits, we work hand-in-hand with local communities and churches to bring aid and relief to people whose lives have been devastated by natural disaster or conflict.

Today we serve in 18 countries, working through 67 partnerships to bring hope, support and compassion to the world’s most vulnerable people.

Every Little Bit Helps is a registered charity. Established with the specific purpose of supporting people in need, our belief is that every Australian should have access to a toothbrush and a bar of soap, and that by providing basic toiletries to people in need we are providing them with not only the essentials, but also a little bit of dignity.

The catalyst for establishing Every Little Bit Helps was learning that while there are many facilities providing laundry and shower facilities, most are able to supply little more than running water and previously did not have regular and reliable access to basic toiletry products.

By receiving donated hotel toiletries, airline amenity kits, as well as make-up and cosmetic samples and sanitary items we are able to supply these products, packed into our care packages to the homeless, asylum seekers and victims of Domestic Violence as well as troubled youths through Women’s Refuge, Homeless Shelters, Youth Centres, Asylum Centres and Community Centres as well as via small Government and Community Groups

We run free creative writing and storytelling workshops for young people aged 7 to 17, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds. Under the guidance of our expert storytelling team, young people work with volunteer tutors to write stories of all kinds, which we publish in as many ways as we can. Young people leave with the skills and confidence essential for future success.

Show Me The Way (SMTW) is a not for profit supporting students experiencing disadvantage in accessing education. SMTW provides secure online mentoring, connecting students from First Nations and from a refugee background with e-mentors from corporate Australia. Show Me The Way focuses on providing opportunities for youth to continue education throughout high school and go on to tertiary studies at university and TAFE.
During SMTW programs participants engage in video workshops to produce mini documentaries that focus on role models from similar cultural backgrounds.
Educational support resources have been created in partnership with the participating schools to enable students’ additional cultural perspective on their school-based learning.

We strongly believe that yogis standing together can create positive social change in this country.

Get Off Your Asana is held by a team of our most revered yogis in Australia.

Together they make the decision about where to distribute funds raised and which of the myriad of positive endeavours made by yogis in this country, would benefit most from the support.

The bigger questions such as how to best teach yoga on Aboriginal land, address the trauma within communities suffering domestic abuse, incarceration, ill health and disconnection and countless other questions are put forward for community consideration.

Our Get Off Your Asana website lists yoga programs in Australia striking out for positive communal change. By doing so we hope to inspire the community to work together strongly.

Through the provision of a participatory co-operative of yoga teachers we will build up discussion and momentum around Service throughout yoga in Australia.

Anglican Aid is an aid, development, and ministry support agency of Australian Christians in partnership with the global church.

'Walk For Phil' is a 23km walk, inspired by one, carried out by so many more. This year, Walk For Phil will take place on Friday 20th April, 2018.

Walking 23kms from Moonee Valley Racecourse to Caulfield Racecourse, via Flemington Racecourse, the walk encourages the generosity of the nation’s third biggest industry; to reach beyond it’s own participants, fans and supporters to embrace the general community to aid two of Phil Sly’s favourite charities - Pinchapoo and Very Special Kids.

Phil Sly was a larger than life character, thoroughly built around his passion for all of racing, from the punt, to ownership to camaraderie, but a man who valued life and giving to others.

Phil lost a staunch and rallying fight against “The Grub” of cancer in 2016 but not before inspiring others who were in sufferance along with many more who could make a difference and rally behind him and the cause.

And that is the idea behind 'Walk For Phil', something that he passionately drove before his passing, with a view to help his dear to heart life-changing charities, Pinchapoo and Very Special Kids.

This walk is to honour not just his life - one fully spent - but to work towards providing life-changing differences for others.

Registration is $65 including a Walk For Phil shirt, breakfast, BBQ lunch, and post-walk gala event with drinks, masseurs and more; the Walk starts at 8am sharp (registration from 7am) and concludes at 3pm.

The event is being run under the Pinchapoo ABN with all funds split evenly between Pinchapoo (ABN 21 603 724 018) and Very Special Kids (ABN 86 109 832 091).

Diamond Women is a warm, engaging community based not-for-profit organisation that provides holistic support to women and their families facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Diamond provides counselling, outreach, parenting and mentor support groups, material assistance and casework service referrals. These services are readily available for young, vulnerable, pregnant and or parenting women as well as their families who are in crisis.

Since its launch in 2006, Diamond has provided over 1,200 pregnant and parenting women and their families with thousands of hours of counselling, mentoring and support. Our service has always operated twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to ensure women can access the support they need any time. We support women from Greater Western Sydney, Central Coast, South West, Sydney CBD, Illawarra and surrounding areas. As of September 2018, Diamond Women’s Support, and Sara’s Place merged together to increase strength in numbers, resources and support for all women in need of help.

The women and families that we see at Diamond are some of the most vulnerable and at risk in our community. Without the care, counselling, practical assistance and support services that Diamond provides our clients and their babies would face a very uncertain future.

White Box Enterprises is a large-scale, jobs-focused social enterprise builder with a BIG goal. Our mission is to transform Australia’s youth employment system using social enterprise as the tool. We do this by building, replicating and supporting large-scale, work-integrated social enterprises that fill clear market gaps and can employ 50+ people.

M4RNSW is a collective of women, carers and friends seeking change to laws, processes and structures that are intrinsically harmful.

Our vision

We are passionate about giving “The Refugee Experience” a genuine and empathic face.

The resilient young refugees with whom we work, offer us their life stories with open-hearted grace, and thus hand us the privilege and the responsibility of finding a way to give these stories voice and audience. We long for all Australians to hear these kids. We yearn for affluent and safe Australians of every colour to feel these stories. We crave other kids of all backgrounds to connect these (genuine!) vibrant faces with the word “refugee”.

The Treehouse Theatre program provides a platform for young refugees to share their life stories. Through group story telling in a live public theatre performance, young refugees share their personal stories with friends, family and the wider community.

Treehouse Theatre currently schedules 2–3 formal programs per year. The programs often run under the names of "Tree of Life" and "Suitcase Stories". Each program runs for around 4 months and can support approximately 30 participants with close guidance and assistance from key schools, participants families and the wider community. A program will enable these participants to openly discuss their past and present journeys, develop a positive method to express their experiences, and as a group eventually perform their stories to a number of venues around NSW.

The aim of the program is twofold. Primarily to help instil confidence and wellbeing to the participants who have often endured a number of hardships through their lives. Yet secondly, as a vehicle to educate the broader community on the importance of supporting one another and welcoming those who are new to Australia.

Previous audiences of “Tree of Life” have testified to feeling both enlivened and transformed by the stories of “our” kids, and we listen to the sounds of audiences sobbing, and then shouting with laughter, with full hearts. Treehouse Theatre delights in the growth of confidence and happiness in our young refugees, as they discover that Australians are fascinated by what they have to say.

Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) is the national leadership organisation for the suicide prevention sector in Australia.
We work with our Members, governments, businesses and the wider community to meaningfully reduce the number of deaths by suicide that take place in this country. Our vision is a world without suicide.

Nova for Women and Children are a specialist homelessness service in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas of NSW.

Nova assists women (with or without children) that may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or escaping domestic and family violence with temporary crisis accommodation, case management support and to maintain safe accommodation or to remain safely in their home.

Each day, Nova accommodates up to 80 women and children across 4 refuge sites - with most nights being at full capacity.

Over a year, that equates to providing over 27,700 nights accommodation for vulnerable women and children that may otherwise have simply no where else to remain safe.

The premier Child Abuse Prevention and Early Intervention Service in Australia. We focus on the prevention aspects by working with families before children are born into the family. We provide caring supportive programs based on attachment and relationships to enhance peoples lives. Our evidenced based programs are proven and tested to work to change the life trajectory of children, to enhance the next generation of Australians to Thrive, not just survive.

We provide specific relationship based parenting programs, and protective behaviour programs that work with the whole of the child's safety network. Prevention is better than cure. We prevent childhood trauma.

Delivering essentials (preloved beds, fridges, washing machines, sofas, chests of drawers, tables and microwaves) takes an empty rental and makes it 'my new home'.) While other agencies assist with clothes, food, toys and manchester, we concentrate on the big ticket, heavy items. We are different because we are fast - by working through caseworkers and advocates, we bypass lengthy assessment delays and preserve dignity. The reduction in unnecessary landfill is immense.

So when you hear of someone renovating, downsizing, moving back to their home country, redecorating, or helping their loved ones into aged care, see it as a beautiful opportunity for a win-win situation - a new beginning for someone in dire need, and a streamlined process for the kind donor.
