Refurbishment of permanent accommodation units to ensure provision of suitable shared accommodation for young people (MS believes strongly that Aged Care facilities are inappropriate housing for Young People with Disabilities).
Family weekend Camps – provide fun and opportunities for group counselling and the sharing of experiences, particular for children who have a parent who has MS.
Financial Assistance program – provides funding on application for people with MS experiencing hardship to achieve necessary home supports.
‘Gift of Help’ –funds are available for distribution on application to persons with MS or their carers to purchase short term, practical , home and domestic supports eg one off home maintenance repairs, gutter cleaning, bathroom or domestic cleaning, lawn mowing.
Neuropsychology assessments –our organisation seeks funds to be able to pay the full cost of people with MS to access the services of private neuropsychologists , who can determine the extent of any cognitive changes and suggest strategies to deal with these changes in the future. This is not a service that is funded by Medicare or other health and disability funding.
Refurbishment of permanent accommodation unit (Watsonia, Vic) - will purchase new window coverings (blinds) in a 3 bedroom home unit.
Family weekend camps – Last year 8- individuals attended camps in Vic and 25 attended in the ACT.
Financial assistance - funds a basic manual wheelchair, an electric wheelchair for people over 65 who are not eligible under state disability schemes.
‘Gift of help’ – funds 4 weeks of domestic cleaning to assist one family through periods of relapse.
Fund 6 episodes of mowing and garden care for a family.
Neuropsychology assessment - fund a private neuropsychologist to conduct an assessment and advise clients and families of appropriate strategies and recommendations to deal with cognitive issues.
