Projects currently supported by Heart Research Australia include identifying the cause of pregnancy induced heart failure, improving the heart function in premature babies and stem cell research into repairing damaged heart tissue.
$5,000 per year will fund chemistry lab consumables such as cell culture media, serum and reagents.
$10,000 per year will pay for the running of a chemistry lab including basic solvents, chemicals and machine costs.
$25,840 will pay for a PhD scholarship for 1 year and help nurture the next generation of Australian researchers.
$50,000 per year for up to 3 years will support a specific research project into the prevention, detection and treatment of heart disease and associated medical conditions.
$100,000 will fund major pieces of equipment which are fundamental to a number of research outcomes.
