Located in Cairns and Inala in QLD, Mission Australia's Circles of Care connects schools and family with a range of learning and social support services to support primary school-aged children in disadvantaged situations who face learning challenges. The program fills a gap that exists in vulnerable families with children who are showing signs of developmental issues. This may be due to social isolation of families from culturally and linguistically diverse, refugee and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds; and low literacy skills and English as a second language.
Mission Australia needs to urgently raise $116,000 to give children in the Inala and Cairns area the support, resources and mentors they need to learn and achieve their full potential, while they're in the classroom, and after school. This includes a Children's Sports Program that is focused on building healthy lifestyles, hygiene, social skills and overall wellbeing with children.
