This Wednesday 12th August 2020 is International Youth Day and we are talking about preventing youth homelessness through a program called Reconnect.
Reconnect is an early intervention program, which aims to break the cycle of disadvantage for vulnerable young people who are at-risk or homeless due to family conflict.
Reconnect staff support vulnerable teens to be safe, access stable accommodation, connect with family, improve wellbeing and mental health, find greater social connectedness, and set positive pathways for the future through education or employment.
Your support will be applied to priority areas of need for young people including:
• Professional emotional and practical guidance
• Direct care expenses such as food and clothing
• Family facilitation sessions to resolve conflict and build relationships
• Workshops to improve skills and employment options
• Education expenses such as books and course fees
• Fees for community activities, events, games and service
With your help, young people in our communities can look forward to a brighter future.
