United Way Australia is a for purpose organisation which believes every community should have the opportunity to thrive. We do this by bringing together community, philanthropy, government and social purpose organisations in collaborative action to improve outcomes in education, employment, health and housing in communities experiencing disadvantage.
In parts of Australia, 1 in 3 young people are not in full time employment or education and unemployment at this critical stage severely hampers the life opportunities of young people. Evidence suggests that best practice programs can inspire young people so they may follow positive pathways to earning or learning.
As part of United Way's Youth Employment work, we seek to inspire young people to reach their full potential. We work with secondary schools in lower socio-economic areas to assist them in building and strengthening their vocational curriculum by engaging business and education communities with the end aim of improving choices and opportunities for their students.
The Mock Interviews session allows students to get a real feel for the interview process; from drafting a resume to interview presentation and constructive advice from mentors who have done it all before.
Many students have limited experience of the world of work and the varied roles available. The Mock Interviews session provides students with the opportunity to participate in an interview and receive constructive feedback from corporate mentors.
This a great opportunity for you to use your soft skills and experience to guide and mentor a great group of young people!
We are looking for volunteers to play the role of an interviewer. You will be provided with all the materials you'll need for the session, just show up in the attire you would usually wear to work.
Working with Children Checks are required for this event.
Thanks so much for volunteering, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive from the staff and students at Marsden High School
