The Cause:
Chances are you know somebody who has fought, or is still fighting cancer.
Can Too raises funds for cancer research grants.
Those cancer researchers are doing their bit to battle cancer - I don't have those skills, but I still want to do my own small part to contribute. So I'll run, and I'll raise money.
The Goal:
I selected the Ultra-Trail Australia 100km trail run on May 20th as my goal event.
The race takes place in the Blue Mountains, and not only is there 100km of running, there's also a total climb (and equal descent) of 4500m over that distance!
I've never run 100km before. In fact, I've maxed out at 50km on a trail run, so I'm doubling my best effort to date.
Maybe that wasn't enough of a challenge though - because I really want to earn your support by training harder than I've ever trained before for any event.
Additionally, I've set myself a target of getting the 'Silver Buckle' - the reward for finishing in under 14 hours (half of the allowed 28 hours to complete the event).
Only 17% of the race finishers from 2016 earned the buckle.
The Training:
I found myself the best coach in the business (Brendan Davies, UP Coaching) and got to work.
Brendan, being the legend that he is, has heavily discounted my training so that I can also contribute the savings to this fundraiser.
The Journey:
I began my training on Boxing Day 2016.
Check out my training blog link below to see how it's going.

The Ask:
I'm totally committed to doing this. On race day, when everything hurts and I don't think I'll be able to run any further... I'll remember the cause and all of you generous donors. That is what will get me through.
My ask is that you please help me by donating. A $50 donation is roughly equal to 1 hour of funded cancer research, but I appreciate any donation no matter the amount.
Thanks,
Chris
